DEFTherapeutic Bodywork & Massage is the platform of healing and health for Dell E. Fisher, LMT, AOBTA..

Dell embarked on this journey about ten years ago after a 23-year career in the optical industry. A professional musician who suffered from migraines and tension-type headaches, Dell turned to acupuncture and shiatsu to find relief.

After pursuing an education in Zen Shiatsu at the Boston Shiatsu School in 1999 and graduating in 2001, Dell began his practice with a group of other practitioners in Harvard Square and helped form Harvard Square Acupuncture and Massage. He started  "Heartful Hands" in 2005 and began going to clients' homes to give treatments and facilitated workshops in movement, stretching, and breathing while teaching Shiatsu part-time at the Salter School in Malden, MA.

During this period, Dell also began teaching Qi Gong at Be One Yoga Studio in Roxbury, while working at Massage Therapy Works in Davis Square, Somerville, MA,  and at Inman Oasis in Inman Square, Cambridge, MA. The exposure to "Western" massage techniques at these two establishments helped Dell see the viability and effectiveness of Tui Na (Chinese Massage) in the realm of healing for the general public giving birth to "DEFTherapeutic Bodywork & Massage".

Dell is a teaching assistant in "Oriental Bodywork" at the New England School of Acupuncture in Watertown, MA, and a guest instructor for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu at the Cortiva Institute (also in Watertown) as part of their Perspectives in Bodywork course.
He continues to further his skills and knowledge through studies with local acupuncturists and bodyworkers and continuing education classes in different areas of bodywork. He is a Certified Practitioner in Zen Shiatsu by the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and licensed by the state of Massachusetts as a massage therapist.

While he continues to see clients at both Inman Oasis and Massage Therapy Works, Dell believes DEFTherapeutic Bodywork & Massage is the perfect platform to promote the healing and healthful benefits of Asian Therapeutic Bodywork.


Dell is the parent of three (3) sons and still plays bass in local bands when the opportunity affords itself.
